Distribution Module

DM is a switching element in the RAMNet. The DM is used to connect the customers to RAMNet. It is used for pure Ethernet connectivity. The unit supports port-based authentication for security and avoids any misuse at the end-user side. It supports two 100 Mbps ports, one UP port and one DOWN port. These ports are used to realize fault tolerant loop as shown in figure. The DM module contains 16 user ports at 10Mbps connectivity to end users with controlled bandwidth as per subscription by the user ranging from 64Kbps to 10 Mbps. The customers are connected to these ports through the DM
